Michael Wong MD, is a physiatrist (fizz ee at’ trist) -a physician specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Physiatrists treat a wide range of problems ranging from sore shoulders to spinal cord injuries. Physiatrists see patients in all age groups and treat problems that touch upon all the major systems in the body. Physiatrists treat acute and chronic pain, musculoskeletal disorders. Physiatrists treat serious disorders for patients with spinal cord injuries, cancer, and stroke or other neurological disorders such as brain injuries, amputations, and multiple sclerosis.

 

Kristi Maynard, APRN-BC – Kristi received her Bachelor of nursing degree from Mount Saint Mary College in  Newburgh, NY,  and her Masters of Nursing from Fairfield University in 2009. She is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Since becoming a nurse practitioner, Kristi has been practicing primary care. She also works as an adjunct faculty member for the SCSU nursing department, and actively participates in clinical research.

A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse (RN) with additional, specialized education. The nurse practitioner provides some care previously offered only by physicians. Education for nurse practitioners includes advanced nursing and selected medical studies as well as intensive clinical experience specific to the nurse practitioner’s area of practice.
